The real confined-space risk
On tunnel and metro drives a diesel portable compressor feeds drills, breakers and concrete kit. The field problem is not that “compressors are used”; it is exhaust drifting to the face when ventilation is inadequate, and pressure loss on a long heading. The machine is sited to the tunnel ventilation plan; exhaust direction is written on the job order.
When a drill and a breaker run together, flows are added and a hose-loss margin is stacked on top. A catalogue 7 bar figure is not treated as enough until it is measured at the tool.

- Dust shortens the air-filter interval; a packed filter cuts airflow and trips a heat alarm.
